November 24th, seminar on “The Political Economy of Corruption and the Distinction between the Concepts of Rule of Law in China and Japan” was held by Unirule Institute of Economics and China-Review in Beijing.
Katsuji Nakagane (中兼和津次), Professor Emeritus at Waseda University was invited to speak at this forum. Professor Nakagane proposed cases of corruption in China and Japan in different stages of social and economic transition and took a comparative analysis of the distinctions between the concepts of rule of law in the two countries from the perspective of institutions. Professor Nakagane also illustrated on the influence of internal relations among institionalization, privatization, and marketization on economic development.
Present at the seminar were Professor MAO Yushi, Honorary President of Unirule; Professor ZHANG Shuguang, Chairman of Unirule Academic Committee; Professor SHENG Hong, Director of Unirule; Professor FENG Xingyuan, Deputy Director of Unirule; Professor ZHAO Nong, Vice Chairman of Unirule Academic Committee; Professor CAI Hengjin from Wuhan University, and Unirule project researchers.
