Present at the meeting were Professor MAO Yushi, Honorary President of Unirule; Professor WEN Guanzhong from Trinity College; Professor HE Xuefeng from Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Professor HUA Sheng from Southeast University; Professor ZHANG Shuguang, Chairman of Unirule Academic Committee; Professor SHENG Hong, Director of Unirule; Dr. Liang Hong, writer; Mr. TAN Qiucheng, researcher at Rural Development Institute of CASS; Mr. SHI Fengyou, Director of Land Association of Shandong Province, and several experts and journalists.

 The participants had heated discussion on the reform paths for China’s land institution. Debate on whether the land institution should be completely marketized, whether land property rights should be adopted, and how to protect the interest of migrant workers was witnessed. They also discussed problems including the justification of small-right houses, rigorous land use regulations, and the difficulties of compensation for farmers whose lands were expropriated.
