January 8th, 2016, Unirule New Year Expectations was held at Unirule Beijing Office. This event was the fifth of its kind, organised by Unirule Institute of Economics and China_Review.com
Representatives from the academia, business, media, and other walks of the society attended this event.
Opening remarks, Mr. MAO Yushi, Honorary President of Unirule Institute of Economics Mr. MAO Yushi spoke on “Emancipate the Mind―Transcending the Craze for Public Ownership.”
Professor SHENG Hong introduced Unirule’s achievement in collaborative projects in public-private partnerships, academic activities, research projects, and other operations in the past year, and expressed gratitude for the support of the public.
Attendees spoke in four thematic units(expectations for China, economic and political reforms, constitutionalism, and expectations for the world), a five-year tradition. Experts at the summit recognised the achievements of the past reforms, analysed the existing problems, criticised bad policy, and proposed future reforms. For example, the enactment of the two-kid policy was a good start, but intervention of citizens’ right to have children lacked constitutional backing. The outcome of the anti-corruption campaign was fully recognised, but the institutional reform plan was still needed. Speakers also talked about the recent stock market fluctuation, the SOE reform, and the deteriorating environment. China_Review.com will publish the transcript of the speeches soon. |
