Biweekly Symposium] No. 590: A Macro-Perspective Review of the Origin of Humanity and Chinese Civilization. Lecturer: Susan Host: Qinsidao Commentator: ZHENG Yewu, WU Si

Ms. Susan firstly introduced why she chose this pen name. She offered a non-conventional approach to our understanding of civilizations, an effort to explore an alternative for the research of civilizations. She claimed that the study of civilizations is a new set of views of the world and methodology, a new philosophy, and a cognitive revolution. Regarding evolution, she supported a linear trend of revolution, attributing the birth of 7 billion people back to one single mother in Africa. She also offered two definitions, or two facets of the definition of civilization, one is the record of human traces, the other is the one we get to learn from textbooks.
