At the 349th Unirule bi-weekly symposium, Mr. Yu Zhongwei delivered a speech entitled“The mechanism of economics?”

Mr. Yu Zhongwei got his B. S from Hefei University of Technology, majored in automation. Although haven’t received any professional training in economics, Mr. Yu has been interested in how the whole economic system functioned ever since he entered colleague in 1985. He has been studied this area on his own during the past two decades.

The basic idea behind his theory was that man responds to incentives. He invited the term interest coefficient to describe how people react to different type of incentives. For example, if Party A and Party B jointly established a firm, Party A’s share in this firm was 60% and Party B’s share was 40%. Then 60% divide 40% was the interest coefficient in the direction of Party A on Party B.
He also shared with the audience what he had learned and experienced during his research. He thought there were similarities among all divisions of knowledge. Take physics and economics for example, in physics there are four natural forces: gravity, electromagnetism, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force. But if those four types of forces were unified into one and then there would be neither atom nor planet. In another word, there would be no university. It’s the same thing in economics, if one wants to totally remove man’s self interest, like what the socialists did, and then the very foundation of the economic system was destroyed. So it was no wonder that all the socialist countries end up in recession and poverty.
Most of the discussants expressed the view that although Mr. Yu’s hard-working and attempt need to be praised, there was some critical flaw in his theory.
